Data Recovery Help
Did you know that over 4 billion pictures and videos are taken every single day? That is an astronomical amount of memories captured. Memories that can be lost with something as simple as a spilled cup of coffee on your iPhone or Samsung.
An outstanding percentage of cell phone users have no idea that they may be moments away from losing a lot of valuable pictures and data. An even higher percentage don’t know the first step of backing up their library of photos, documents, and videos either. We at Rave Repairs want to help others save those precious moments before it is too late.
SD Card Storage
Expandable storage seems to be disappearing just as rapidly as the headphone jack did some odd years ago, but if your device has one, its best to utilize it to its full potential. Moving your entire library to the SD card is highly recommended, as well as switching the settings in your camera app to save new photos and videos automatically to the SD card. Some phones also give the option to do a complete back up onto the card, however, this does require quite a bit of space so do please purchase an SD card of the appropriate size to handle all the data.
Cloud Storage
Many companies like Apple and Samsung offer cloud backups. Unlike local storage, you can access your information from almost any device using these backups. No need to worry about losing your pictures along with your device. However, these services do usually have a cost to them, usually via monthly subscription plans. The amount you pay depends on the amount of data you require to be backed up to the cloud. Google, Samsung, and Apple all offer free cloud storage up to a certain amount, then it will not back up anymore data once the cap has been reached.
External Drives & Computers
The final option we are listing are external drives and computers. Apple and Samsung both have applications to manually back up your device to your machines (iTunes and Samsung Smart Switch respectively). These are great, free tools that anyone can download and use. Of course, your computer would need the space required to back up the data, but most modern systems have a good amount of storage on them to handle the space needed. You can also purchase an external hard drive for fairly cheap nowadays which you can transfer the backup files onto, saving computer space if need be.
Final Tips
All these methods are great ways to make sure you do not lose any valuable information from your device. We suggest doing a backup once every month or two months as a lot of messages and pictures can be taken in that time frame. we also suggest deleting old backups that are no longer needed in order to conserve space on both the cloud and local storage. Here at Rave Repairs we do offer data recovery as well, so feel free to give us a call or visit us today!
